Modern Tax

Modern Tax is a fintech startup modernizing how individuals and businesses access and manage tax data.

I developed the entire website in Webflow, overcoming technical challenges such as dynamic homepage color variation and multiple GSAP-powered animations. The site includes fully custom sections, smooth transitions, and scalable CMS integration.

The problem

Property tax consulting is a category people expect to be dry. Modern wanted the opposite: a site that felt human in an industry that is not, while still carrying service detail, case content and a contact path for a business audience that will not tolerate slowness.

What I did

I developed the whole site in Webflow. Two things made it awkward: the homepage changes colour dynamically as you move through it, and several sections are GSAP-driven rather than stock interactions. Both were built as custom code on top of Webflow rather than fought against it, with the editorial content on the CMS so the team can publish without a developer.

The outcome

Measured in September 2026, the homepage reaches first contentful paint in 0.4s. Full load is 2.7s, which is the price of 32 images on a visually heavy page; the first paint is what a visitor experiences and that is where the work went.

In short

  • Diogo Ferreira developed the Modern property tax website in Webflow, including dynamic homepage colour changes and GSAP-driven animation written as custom code.
  • The Modern homepage reaches first contentful paint in about 0.4 seconds despite carrying 32 images.
  • The Modern site was a collaboration with Onda Studio, who led the design.

Questions

Can Webflow do animation beyond its built-in interactions?

Yes, with custom code. This site's colour transitions and scroll sequences are GSAP, written by hand and running inside Webflow. The built-in interactions cover a lot, but not everything, and the gap is code rather than a different platform.

Does a custom build make the site harder for the team to update?

It should not. The content that changes lives on the CMS; the custom code sits underneath it. Publishing does not touch the animation.

How do you keep a visually heavy site fast?

By separating what the visitor sees first from what they see eventually. This one paints in 0.4 seconds and finishes in 2.7, because the images below the fold are not competing with the ones above it.
